I would swap to high performance when my laptops docked to my tv and desk and switch back to balanced when taking it around.Īlternatively, keep the same plan but only change the 'When plugged in' option to 'do nothing'. E.g I kept the 'balanced' plan as default, and changed 'high performance' plan to do nothing when closing the lid. Note: if you use your laptop on its own or take it around with you and rely on closing the lid to sleep, select or create a different power plan. Power options (can be reached by clicking the battery /charge icon in bottom right).Ĭhange Plan Settings (the one that's currently checked)Ĭlick 'Sleep' and change to 'Do nothing' for one or both of the options as req. Go to Start, then select Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard, and turn on the toggle under Use the On-Screen Keyboard.A keyboard that can be used to move around the screen and enter text will appear on the screen. This will allow you to keep the lid closed and the laptop will effectively function as a flat pc tower.
