You lead a ragtag team through various environments, including a derelict monastery and an abandoned mine complex, as you fight through waves of sapient creatures called The Swarm. You play as James Fenix, an ex-Gear soldier who sets out to unravel the mystery behind a new and monstrous threat that's attacking human settlements. The gameplay grows a bit repetitive as the story progresses, and the characters lack memorable personalities, but if you're looking for an enjoyable PC game, Gears of War 4 is worth a pickup. And like Forza Horizon 3 ($29.99 at Microsoft Store), Gears of War 4 is a part of Microsoft's Play Anywhere initiative, so you can play a digital copy on either a Windows 10 PC or Xbox One console with a single purchase-a nice perk. The Coalition-developed title offers a new team to fight with, new toys to play with, and all-new enemies to blast to pieces, either alone or with a buddy.
